"Restoring 1909
lighting in Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio. No electricity was
available in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park when Frank Lloyd Wright
built his first home there in 1889 - but he knew it was only a matter of
time. The newlywed Wright, who was only 22, worked as chief draftsman at
the architectural office of Adler and Sullivan. The firm was just
finishing the Auditorium Building, one of the first large structures in
the united states to be completely electrified at the time of
construction, so Wright had firsthand knowledge of electrical service in
building. He wired his new house and waited for the power, which arrived
in 1891. Discusses Wright’s use of lighting in his home and studio, and
restoration. Includes 17 photographs. Original cover price $5.00. 8.1 x
