Author: Wright, Frank Lloyd

Description: "Reproduced from a tape of Mr. Wright’s talk, July 1, 1953, at Short Course in Photo-Journalism, University of Wisconsin. You have to be rather suspicious in this kind of an atmosphere, you know... I'm one of those fellows that has been on the off side of press photography for about 60 years. I've seen almost every angle of it, and I think I've been the victim of more good and bad photographers than perhaps anybody here – I don't see so many grey heads. I'm talking to about Press Photography. There is such a thing, and up to about three years ago it was something terrible. It's taking a little better turn now; especially in the magazines. I think during the last two years, or the last three years, photography has been much less stilted; much less candid, so to speak, and much less posed..." Original cover price $1.25.

You’ve been trying hard to get there all these years... You have to be artistic, but that is not the same as being a creative artist." Includes five photographs.
